A new chapter....I last wrote in this blog in 2016. We had started a strip club at the shop and my plan was to post about it but I was still teaching and running two businesses and spending time with grandkids and taking care of relatives and so much more and this blog fell by the wayside. So as 2021 nears I think about getting going again. It's hard for me to write about myself. I see so many people out there sharing and I find it hard to do... I think partly because while there is an abundance of kindness in the world (as we've seen this year) there is also a lot of criticism. I think when you go public you open yourself up to both the good and the bad. I sit here thinking that I'm ready and with the new year around the corner I plan to post about stuff. What stuff is yet to be seen. I know over the last 6.5 years that the shop has been open we have met many people that we feel we connected with and shared their story and journey be it through loss of a loved one, cancer, retirement, sickness, and so much more. When 2020 started I was enthusiastic and optimism Yes, it's been a challenging year! We, like many of you, have struggled to keep money coming in and all the bills paid but we've done it. We've experienced health issues....we all had COVID-19 but fortunately none of us ended up in the hospital because of it. We had family members get sick...pancreatic cancer (this time)... and lost family members. But, you know I'm thankful for everyday and everything. If you know me, you know that I like to have a plan but I also almost always have to change the plan...isn't that how life works? So, as 2021 nears, I think about what next year will hold and what the "plan" will be for me and my family. And the truth is I don't know. I started 2020 with a plan and most of it didn't happen for more reasons than a pandemic but I really am looking forward to 2021; I'm excited to spend time with my husband. We celebrated 32 years of marriage and 33 years of cohabitation. I'm excited to spend time with my grandchildren. The oldest is turning 16 and growing into quite the young man. He and I have plans to go to Costa Rico in June. That should be fun! I'm excited to spend time with my children, sisters, and other relatives. I'm excited to see what 2021 holds for the shop and for my other business. I'm excited about whatever 2021 brings. I don't know if you are interested but I plan to post and I would love to hear about what 2021 brings to you.
We began a new strip club in January. This club will meet the 1st Saturday of every month at 9 a.m. There is a small fee to participate each month of $5. Each month you will receive a new pattern and 20% off any precut strip fabric. We have coffee, juice, and pastry available for you to enjoy during the meeting. For an additional $5 you are welcome to use our sissix machine to cut your fabric during the month. Chelsey will be happy to help you or even cut for you.
In January we made this amazing heart quilt. Several ladies brought their quilts to show off at the February meeting.
February 6th we held our second strip club meeting and had a blast. The ladies in the group are a lot of fun. As you can see from the previous pictures they all have creative ideas about what they want to do with their patterns.
This month we are working on a stack pattern. Deanna Daugherty, our strip club manager, made an over-sized table runner or bed scarf. A few people have plans to add to the pattern and create a quilt. I can't wait to see the results next month. I'll post pictures after the meeting for you to enjoy or you can join us on March 5, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
